| USAT Scoring | |||||||||||||
| The 2005 Intermediate Distance ITU World Championship and the 2005 Short Course Duathlon National Championship were used to determine first tier pacesetter’s for the ’06 season. time. | |||||||||||||
| Once the first tier was determined, they looked at the ’05 races the first tier pacesetters competed in order to determine a second tier. | |||||||||||||
| Second tier races were determined by any USAT sanctioned race that a minimum of 5 first tier pacesetters competed in. This same process was used to determine third tier, etc. | |||||||||||||
| The significance of the pacesetter system is to provide a “par” time for each event in ’06. The “par” time is the projected winning | |||||||||||||
| The Equation | |||||||||||||
| The “par” time is calculated by taking the pacesetter’s finish time in the race multiplied by the pacesetter’s ranking and then divided by 100. | |||||||||||||
| They then drop the top and bottom 2 percent in order to create the most accurate “par” time as possible. | |||||||||||||
| Once the par time has been calculated, it can be used to calculate a ranking for every participant. | |||||||||||||
| This is done by taking the “par” time in minutes divided by the member’s finishing time and then multiplied by 100 to calculate the athlete’s event ranking. | |||||||||||||
